Electrified cargo tow tractor COMET 6e
Electrification of ground support equipment (GSE) for airports
For our customer, we converted a conventionally powered tow tractor into an electric version. The machine was designed to match the specifications of the original conventionally powered model.

Conversion
At M-ECS, we believe that extending the End of Life (EOL) of machines is the first step toward reducing our carbon footprint. For this reason, we strongly support retrofitting older machines that are in good structural condition with a modern control system and powertrain.
In this specific project, we disassembled the combustion engine, gearbox, and the original heating and cooling system. Next, we integrated a completely new drivetrain with a 650V battery pack. We added a new cooling system for the drivetrain, along with a battery thermal management system for the battery pack. Afterward, we replaced the cabin heating system with a high-voltage heating system.
For safety reasons, we also installed an isolation monitoring system to monitor the high-voltage wiring.

Control, Visualize, and Connect.
To improve machine safety, we equipped it with a safety controller that monitors critical, safety-related parameters and shuts down the machine in potentially dangerous situations.
We installed a new dashboard to display the most important data for the operator.
We also integrated the M-ECS Connect IoT system, enabling our customer to gain better insight into the operation of the machine, while allowing us to perform remote diagnostics and carry out software updates from a distance.
